Koresh Kids Dance seeks

Assistant Teaching Artist for 2023-24 school year

 

Koresh Kids Dance has been a community partner of the School District of Philadelphia for 16 years, and currently partners with 29 2nd-5th grade classrooms in 11 elementary schools within the District. Our residencies run from October-June and provide high-quality creative dance instruction during the school day. Students learn fundamental dance technique and movement vocabulary, while developing their own creative voice and building key social and emotional skills. Over the course of a residency, students are invited to create their own dances individually, in small groups and in collaboration as a class, culminating in a final performance of their work. 

Teaching Artist requirements:

  • Must have a BA, BFA or higher education in Dance or Dance Education, OR equivalent experience

  • Must be motivated to teach, interested in working in Philadelphia public schools, and able to commit to the remainder of the school year (January-early June)

  • Applicants should desire to facilitate students as creative artists and center student voice in their teaching

  • Must be able to teach collaboratively and facilitate collaboration among students

  • Must be able to complete clearances as required by the School District of Philadelphia

Preferred applicants will have:

  • Experience teaching in a school or other community dance setting

  • Experience teaching a creative dance curriculum

  • Willingness/ability to travel to sites outside of Center City

Additional consideration given to applicants with:

  • Ability to speak Spanish

  • Background in Latin American, African or Black American folkloric dance styles

We are looking for someone to take over assistant teaching at 1-2 schools for the remainder of the school year through the week of 6/9. Possible placements include: 

Fridays 1:15-3:30 PM in Hunting Park

Thursdays 1:15-2:45 PM in South Philadelphia

If you are not available at these times but have other school day availability for 2023-2024 or 2024-25, we also welcome your application. 

Teaching Artist responsibilities:

  • Assist lead teaching artist in guiding students through Koresh Kids Dance curriculum during weekly classes

  • Help to develop and maintain a classroom environment that is safe for creating dance 

  • Facilitate the development of students as artists, choreographers, and dancers

  • Gradually take on increased responsibilities for lesson planning and lead teaching as the year progresses

  • Develop lesson plans based in creative dance concepts

  • Assist lead teaching artist in developing a final end of the year performance 

  • Attend up to 3 paid teaching artist meetings and PD sessions throughout the year outside of teaching

Koresh Dance Company 

Seeks Booking Agent for professional contemporary dance company

Position Description (Hybrid)

The Booking Agent of Koresh Dance Company will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for meeting touring revenue projections by securing and  negotiating touring contracts with venues and dancer agreements. The booking manager will oversee touring engagements by managing touring logistics and administering all communication between presenters/ venues and the company, dancers and technical staff.  

The position seeks a highly organized, self-motivated, and individual who is passionate about the performing arts. Our office is located in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia.  Candidates should have excellent inter-personal skills, a background in project management, sales or communication preferred.  


Studio Cleaner

School Administrative Internship

Koresh School of Dance is seeking responsible individuals to manage the front desk. The ideal candidate will have a love for dance, experience with Microsoft products, Mindbody software, and great people skills. Interns assist multiple managers in various administrative tasks and must demonstrate skills in multitasking and a proactive work ethic. Interns manage client interactions, perform financial transactions, answer phone calls, provide assistance in the administrative field, and perform light house cleaning. Interns work one 6-hour shift per week in exchange for unlimited free dance classes (and other perks) at Koresh Dance Company! Shifts are scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday 3-9:00pm .

Marketing & Development Internship

*** Seeking Positions for Winter - Spring 2024***

Koresh Dance Company is seeking students and young professionals seeking hands-on experience in nonprofit business practices and arts administration. Internship is focused around Marketing and Development, and can be catered to your strengths and interests. Responsibilities may include assisting with company bookings, creation and sending of email blasts, managing social media accounts, creating online and print content, managing fundraising campaigns, grant writing and research, database management and analyzing statistics. This internship position offers insight into the full scope of Koresh Dance Company as a dance studio, touring dance company, and advocate for the arts through our outreach programs. Involvement in company events could include the planning and execution of our bi-annual fundraising campaigns, Artist Showcases, virtual performances, and annual home season, gala/fundraisers and Come Together Dance Festival.

Hours are flexible and can range 8-15 hours a week. Internship for college credit can be discussed.
