For all classes , hair must be pulled back neatly in a bun or a ponytail. For ballet, it MUST be in a bun. Unkept hair will not be accepted - it is a distraction.
No jewelry should be worn at anytime. This includes rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Small stud earrings are acceptable. Jewelry is an accident waiting to happen. Please advise your child to leave jewelry at home as they will be asked to remove it before class.
-
Low Attendance. If there is only one student present for a particular class, the student will receive a partial private lesson for that day. Please note - if the student does not want to take the class by themselves, the class will be canceled and will not be rescheduled. A partial class will be half of the regular length of class. We reserve the right to cancel any class during the session (i.e., remove it from the schedule) if the class has no more than four students registered.
- Tardiness. Students are expected to arrive at the studio with sufficient time to prepare for class. If a student is 10 minutes late to class, it is the teacher's decision whether or not they can still participate. The teacher's decision is the final word. This is a safety precaution; a child entering into a class without being properly warmed up is at risk for injury. If a student is 15 or more minutes late, they will not be allowed to participate and they must observe.
- Absences. If a student misses four classes in a row without notifying the studio, the student will not be allowed back in the class without first receiving the teacher's permission.
- Make-up Classes. If a student misses class they can choose to make it up in another class appropriate to their age and level. it does not have to be the same type of class; this is an opportunity for students to try a different style of dance. Students will be allowed no more than three make-up classes throughout the session.
- Teacher Absences. As most of our instructors are still professional dancers, we support their careers and performance opportunities. If an instructor will be absent, we will provide an equally experienced and qualified substitute.
- Inclement Weather. If the studio decides to close due to bad weather, we will contact you by 2pm that day to let you know. We will send out an email and try to reach you at your contact number. You can also call the studio at 215-751-0959 or email Emily@koreshdance.org to find out. Koresh School of Dance is not responsible for classes canceled as a result of weather or any other extreme circumstances beyond our control.
STUDIO ETIQUETTE
- Behavior. We expect our students to behave properly while in class. They must be respectful of their teacher and peers at all times. Should a student become disruptive in class, the teacher has the right to remove them from class. The student will be allowed back into class at the teacher’s discretion.
- Before class. No students are allowed in the studio until the class begins. They must wait quietly in the lobby until the teacher has invited them in.
- Supervision. Children must be supervised in the lobby at all times. it is not a place for playing or running as your child may hurt themselves. The lobby can be very crowded at times so you need to be respectful of that as well. It is a place for sitting, stretching, reading, etc. The Pilates mats and balls are for the adult students; they are not there for entertainment.
- For children under 6 years of age, parents must stay in the lobby at all times in case of emergency. If you must leave for any reason, please notify the person working at the front desk. Leaving should only be for a short period, not the entire length of the class.
- Observation. No friends or family members are allowed in the dance studio to observe class. only registered students are allowed to be inside. Observation Week is the only time that people are invited into the studio to watch. Otherwise, you may watch through the windows but please do not distract the students.
- Animals. No pets are allowed in the dance studio or lobby at any time.
- Students must sign in at the front desk upon arrival. There are no exceptions.
PAYMENTS & REGISTRATION - Please pay close attention to these policies.
- There is a $25 registration fee for new students.
- If you pay in full at the time of registration, you will receive a 5% discount on tuition. This is only applicable if you register before the start of the session.
-
If you do not pay in full, you may choose to make payments throughout the session. Families registering for up to two classes can make two payments during the weeks of September 8 and October 20. Families registering for three or more classes can make three payments during the weeks of September 8, October 20 and November 17.
- Late payments are not acceptable. Payment not received within the designated weeks will be considered late and a $10 late fee will be added to your balance. A $20 late fee will be added if it is two weeks late and your child will not be allowed to take class until payment is made.
- There is a $25 fee for any returned checks.
- TUITION IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
- Drop Class Form. In the event that a student needs to withdraw from a class before the end of the session, a Drop Class Form must be filled out to prevent further billing. Once your child is registered, you are responsible for making payments whether or not they attend class. The appropriate Drop Class Form is necessary to stop billing.
- Drop Class Forms will only be accepted up to four weeks after the session's start date. After four weeks, you are required to fulfill your commitment to paying the full tuition.
PERFORMANCES
- We hold an End of the Year Performance each year towards the end of the Spring Session, typically in late May or early June. Dates and information are handed out in the spring.
- Any student with extensive absences will jeopardize their chance of participating in the End of the Year Performance. The decision will be determined by the teacher.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS
By signing the registration form, you give the Koresh School of Dance the right to use any photos or videos for promotion of the studio (newspapers, flyers, website, etc.). They will not be used for any other purpose.
We allow parents to take photos and videotape during Observation Week. If any parent intends to make these public (e.g., YouTube, MySpace), they MUST get the permission of the other students' parents first.
*Koresh School of Dance and its staff are not responsible for any injury that occurs while on the premises. The studio is also not responsible for any lost items.
By signing the Registration Form, I state that I have read all of the above statements in their entirety, and determine that I understand, agree and completely support all policies and rules of the Koresh School of Dance.
If you have questions about any policy, please contact Emily O’Rourke, Education & Outreach Director at Emily@koreshdance.org.
