Beg./int. modern jazz with Kevan

sAturday 12:30-1:45pm

Beginner/Intermediate Modern Jazz featuring Koresh Dance Company member Kevan Sullivan. This class is designed for dancers who have some basic knowledge of positions/vocabulary and want to enhance their technique and elevate their artistry to the intermediate level within the contemporary style.

Beginner: This class is designed for novice dancers or students who have not danced for many years. We will continue to emphasize proper posture, muscle development, flexibility, musicality, and grace of movement through beginner level combinations. Students are expected to know basic dance vocabulary and have a desire to improve their strength and technique.

Intermediate: Dancers with previous training will enjoy the transition into an intermediate level class. Students will progress at a quick yet comfortable pace while increasing strength and flexibility. Movement combinations are layered with multiple steps to refine and advance your dance technique on a pre-professional level.

Kevan grew up in Millford, CT and started his dance training at the age of two. He studied at the Lee Lund Studio of Dance while also traveling to NYC to train. In 2009, Kevan received the Director’s Talent Scholarship awarding him a full tuition scholarship to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He was also selected to study at the School of Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Traditions Program in the summer of 2010. Kevan has performed with Alchemy Dance Company as well as Tommie Waheed Evan’s “Waheed Works”. Kevan joined Koresh Dance Company in 2013 and is excited to be part of our teaching staff.
