KORESH ARTIST showcase

at the David Cooper Black Box Theater

The Koresh Artist Showcase is an initiative that was created to give local, emerging talent a platform to present their work as well as give the community a chance to discover new artists and new styles of dance. As such, each showcase presents work by a diverse group of artists who in turn are given the opportunity to perform and connect with a wider audience in an intimate setting. Furthermore, there is not cost for the artists to participate.

Some of our past participants have included Sammy Reyes, Alchemy Dance Company, Crystal Frazier, Project Moshen, Opus 1 Dance, Shannon Murphy, Ballet Fleming, Teresa VanDenend Sorge, Xhale Dance Company, Lin Batsheva Kahn, and many more!

The Koresh Artist Showcase is held at our Company's home, where one of the studios is turned into a black box theater. Showcases are held on Saturday and Sunday evenings several times throughout the year and each performance lasts approximately 1 hour. Tickets are just $15 per person and are available online.

In memory of David Cooper

Koresh Rehearsal 2-16-2016-44.jpg

David Cooper cherished beauty. He nourished it with his smile, spirit, and support for dance. In Koresh Dance, and particularly in Roni, he found a kindred spirit. Since the inception of Koresh Dance, they fostered modern dance in Philadelphia together. In his honour, Koresh dedicated their home studio’s Black Box Theater to him. The David Cooper Black Box Theater and the accompanying David Cooper Endowment for New Dance were created as an incubator for creation.

Unbound by traditional constraints, it is a place for dance to develop and flourish. This is why we at Koresh Dance are so pleased to honour David’s love of creativity with the David Cooper Black Box Theater. This space is home to various intimate dance performances, emerging artists, and the “Koresh Artist Showcase Series.”

To continue to support David’s legacy, the David Cooper Endowment for New Dance will support the creation of new dance works. With your generous support, David’s spirit will continue to live on in new works of innovative beauty and creativity.
