Beginner East Afro contemporary dance class is inspired by the vibrant rhythms and traditional dances of East Africa! This class involves energetic footwork, grounded hip and torso articulation, and a fusion of traditional and contemporary African Movements. No experience needed-just bring your joy, your energy, and your love for dance!
Isaac Ssemaganda is an East African dance teacher, choreographer, and performer. He was born and raised in Uganda and has taught, choreographed, and performed East African traditional dance forms for over eight years. Isaac earned his BA from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, where he collaborated with institutions like Ndere Troupe, Uganda Heritage Roots, New York University, and Norwegian College of Dance, presently known as Norwegian University College of Dance from Norway. While in East Africa, he performed in festivals like Bayimba International Festival of the Arts and Dance Week Festival. He has choreographed for the African Theatre Association(AFTA) and the STEAM Festival, and has taught and created work in dance companies, local and international schools, Universities, and non‐profit organisations across Uganda and Kenya. These include Kyambogo University, Mambya Dance Company, and Blingers Empire. After moving to the United States in 2023, Isaac continues to develop and share his distinctive movement style, a fusion of traditional East African dances enriched by elements from across the continent, in his classes, choreography, and performances.
